As the Director of Communications with Massachusetts Communities Action Network (MCAN), I lead the narrative change work for a statewide network of seven faith and values based affiliates. From the State House to the grassroots, MCAN is committed to working for racial equity and economic justice through community leader led initiatives to dismantle oppressive structures forged by white supremacy, capitalism, patriarchy, and imperial Christianity.

Second Chance Justice Commutation Rally

Second Chance Justice, a campaign of MCAN affiliate Brockton Interfaith Community, successfully advocated for the commutation of William Allen’s life without parole sentence. Devin McCourty (pictured at podium), then a New England Patriot, and his teammates and staff were part of these efforts. William came home to Brockton in May 2022 after 28 years of incarceration.

Youth SOL, a training program incubated by MCAN affiliate Brockton Interfaith Community, held a public forum to call on Brockton Public Schools administrators to address a number of issues of equity, included diversity in hiring.

Supporting MCAN’s seven affiliates across the Commonwealth often calls for developing a strategy to uplift local messaging as with Brockton Interfaith Community’s Operation Powershift Campaign as well as elevate stories within the state and across the nation as with Pioneer Valley Project’s work in response to policing misconduct.
